My GameCube was modded to play US & Japanese games, and to display a different colored LED for whatever region it’s in. I taught myself how to solder when I installed the Afterburner & Stealth Dimmer on my GBA – twice! Once in my original GBA and once after the paint job that I did started rubbing off and I moved it into a new case. Just last month, I spent a few hours swapping hard drives from ReplayTV to PC and vice-versa, essentially upgrading my overall storage capacity in each one. Having an 80-hour ReplayTV is great (it used to store only 40 hours)… and having 200 gigs of storage in my PC is nice, but it’s already filling up fast.
Well, since I’m probably not going to finish building the acoustic guitar that I started last semester (unless somebody reading this buys me a nice set of power & hand tools
), now I need something new to mod. Since I have an Xbox, I might as well do that. Using it as a media center is gonna be fun… especially with the ReplayTV to Xbox Media Center streaming capability that I found.
So far, I bought a new 120 gig hard drive for it. Now I just need to get the chip, but the one I want is pretty much sold out everywhere I’ve checked.
When it actually comes time to mod it, I’ll be taking pictures and documenting everything like I usually do.
More to come later! But if you want some good videos of the inside of an Xbox, just check xboxgeek for some nice tutorials.
