Firefox shortcuts!

Posted on Monday, July 5th, 2004 by Me

I’ve been using Firefox since around February this year, but I learn something new about it every once in a while.

One really useful trick that I’ve been using a lot is to middle-click on links if I don’t want them to open in the current tab. If you’re using a scroll mouse (and who doesn’t have one of those, these days?), just use the scroll button to click on a link, and it’ll open up in a new tab. Saves me the trouble of right-clicking and picking “new tab” from the menu. 🙂

One that I just learned a couple days ago (or maybe it was yesterday), is that you can type in something like animesuki into the address bar and if you hit CTRL-ENTER, it’ll put in the http://www. before what you typed and put in the .com after it. Cool! 😀 I’ll be using that one a lot too… if the page I’m going to isn’t already in my auto-complete list. 😛

F6 or ALT-D. ALT-D doesn’t seem to work when I’m entering text into a form, but F6 works all the time. Hit either one of these and it’ll highlight the address bar so you can get there without having to move your mouse all the way up there. I’m more of a mouse person myself, but for people who like to save milliseconds of time, then I guess that’s nice.
