I’ve been doing a little bit of pondering for the past few minutes about the weekly Wednesday drawings that they have at Valley View. Every day, you can get an entry into the drawing by showing your player’s club card. If you also bring in the little coupon things they send out in the mail, they’ll give you five extra entries. They also have this “take 5 Tuesdays” or “5x Tuesdays” or something where if you show your player’s card on Tuesday, you’ll get 5 times the promotional entries, and you’ll also earn 5x more points when you use your card, I guess.
Anyway, I was thinking about the drawings. The last one I went to was the last drawing for February. For every last drawing of the month, they give away the biggest prize and last month’s was a Ford Escape SUV or $18,000 (winner got to choose). The drawing drum was soooo full of entries, probably over 50,000 would be my guess, maybe even over 75,000. So there was no way mine was gonna get picked since I only had about 18 entries. Needless to say, I didn’t get picked.
I’ve got 24 entries for the next drawing. I’m thinking I don’t want to do the last one of the month because that’s what everyone else saves their tickets for. But maybe the next to last drawing of the month would be good. That’s on the 23rd… and I’ll be getting 6 more tickets for it if I go next week. The grand prize for the drawing on the 23rd is $3,000… the prize for the last drawing on the 30th is $10,000, but I think I have a slim-to-none chance of even getting my name picked for that one. I’ll settle for better chances of getting my name chosen than trying for more money.
Anyway, when I was in elementary school (ZAMORANO baby!! Best elementary school ever!), they had these things called caught you being good. Basically, the staff at the school would give out these colored pieces of paper to students that said “caught you being good” on them. You’d put them in the jar in your classroom and every Friday, people who got theirs picked would get out of class early to go to the cafeteria and get a free Big Stick.
In 6th grade, I started crumpling up my CYBGs so much until they were as soft as facial tissue so that it felt different from all the rest of them. I got picked like three weeks in a row or something, then everyone else started doing it too. 😐 It was great while it lasted though. 😀
I’m thinking about doing the same thing with my Valley View entries this time. But maybe it’s not such a good strategy to be publishing my idea on the internet. It’s not like it’s that new of a strategy to begin with, but it might give other people the idea if they hadn’t thought of it themselves. Well, if everyone did it, then I could just not crumple up my entry and it would stand out from the rest since everyone else’s would be soft. 😛 I might actually try it though… at least with one or two of my entries. There doesn’t seem to be a rule against doing that, so it wouldn’t hurt to at least try. 🙂
