The title of this post is what happens when you spend too much time on video game forums. 😛
I’ve had my version 2.0 WRT54G for 13 days now and it’s been up and running beautifully ever since I plugged it in. NOT EVEN ONE disconnect at all! Now that’s how a wireless router is supposed to work, folks! This is one completely robust piece of hardware unlike those newer 2.2 and 3.0 versions.
I noticed that the thread on linksysinfo is now up to 17 pages! :Q I stopped reading it at around page 11-12, but I’ll be reading it where I left off to see if anyone’s actually found a solution that works for everyone in fixing the wireless disconnect problems.
UPDATE: I read through that thread and found some beta firmware available for the WRT54G/GS. It seems like the firmware (filename: WRT54GV3[1].1_4.00.7_US_high.code.bin, description : WRT54G 4.00.7 BETA Firmware) fixes the problem for WRT54G 2.2 and 3.0 owners, I’m not quite sure if the one for the WRT54GS 1.1 works. That being said, download this BETA firmware at your own risk. Here’s the link of where to get it: http://www.siemens-mobiles.org/linksys/
If you’d rather not download beta firmware and want something stable, just wait a little longer for the results of the beta testing. Hopefully it will be released OFFICIALLY by Linksys soon.
Thank you Linksys for FINALLY getting around to fixing this problem!
