I am totally frustrated right now. I’ve been scouring some Internet Marketing forums and trying to get info on how to make money online. So far I tried a little bit of Bum Marketing about a month ago… I only wrote about 4 articles though and then got distracted by a little trip up to Vegas and kind of forgot about the whole thing. I didn’t make any money from my 4 articles and don’t expect to make anything from them in the future.
I’m trying to make at least $100 before I spend any money on any kind of ad campaign. So I’m going for the free route to make money first.
So here I am, reading all this info and it’s all so overwhelming. I’ve signed up for a Clickbank account and an account at Linkshare and I’ve had an Amazon Associates account for a while now that barely makes me $10 every other quarter. đŸ˜› I even have an AdSense account that generates a few cents here and there (I’m not really trying much to make money with AdSense).
My problem is, I have no clue how to pick the right niche. My interests are very limited to just technology and video games and not much else. I don’t have any other interests and don’t want to pick a niche that I know nothing about. Even trying to break those up into more specific subcategories, it’s hard to find something that isn’t competitive and has a product that I can sell as an affiliate.
If I can just get past this little roadblock of selecting the right niche, I know I can write however many articles I need to make myself some cash. When it comes to writing, once I start, I can just go on forever. The technical aspects of making money online (setting up a blog or whatever else I need to do) are a piece of cake for me since I’m a tech geek. Hopefully I can find a good niche with a hungry market.
My other problem is similar to these other people’s problems (replace the word “wife”, significant other or whatever with “mom”)…
Working Online: Make her understand
Women don’t understand
Well, my situation is similar to theirs. My mom calls me up from work and gets on my case about finding a job. Her only definition of a job is your typical 9 to 5 office type of job. She has no idea how lucrative making money on the internet can be. She thinks all I do is goof off on the internet all day.
I’m not goofing off. I’m researching. Yesterday I looked up info on starting a LLC or maybe an INC. But I ended up deciding that it’s better to be an individual/sole proprietor for now since I haven’t really made any money at all yet and I’m not selling any of my own products.
Also, it seems like whenever I’ve gotten a job, it’s something that mom doesn’t understand or it’s a company she’s never heard of and so I feel like she never approves of anything I do. It just makes me feel so defeated whenever she says anything to me. I’m not really the kind of person who will try to explain things because I know she’d still be the same way.
I just want to make some money to show her that it’s possible and maybe get her off my back. But when she thinks I’m home doing nothing, she’ll call me up and make me run all these little errands for her.
That is really the most frustrating thing about trying to make a living online.
Sigh…
UPDATE: I found a more relevant ranting thread:
Ahh Parents are so frustrating!
This is exactly how I feel!!
