Handle this

Okay, that wasn’t a very good title. I’ll think of something better, if I come up with anything else as I write this.

Anyway, I was thinking that I should come up with some kind of new online identity for myself. At most places where I register, I always try to get my first name and my first name only as my username, but when that’s not available, it takes me forever to come up with some other name that isn’t already taken.

I need something unique – something that when people google for it can only be me. Something that’s not likely to be taken whenever I register for a new service. Sure, I can use my name, but I really don’t want to be found by my real name online. Yeah, you can search for my name and find some things about me like maybe my IM facebook page, an old article I wrote about Firefox, and some contest I won that never paid, my ICQ number that I don’t use, my MySpace page that I also don’t use anymore – but I really don’t want any more than that to be found online about me. If I want my name out there, I’ll put it out there, but I really don’t want any more info available with all these identity theft reports I’ve seen going around.

I need a really good handle that I can use anywhere that’s me, but is in no way connected to my real name. It’s tough coming up with names. Hmm.
