I use my domain a lot for e-mail (mostly just as forwarders to other addresses with a few real addresses), but use a different service for my main e-mails. I’ve been getting more and more B of A spam lately delivered to my primary mail inbox – in other words, not to my domain e-mail addresses, but to my other @popularemailwebsite.com address.
How does this crap manage to bypass the spam filters?
It’s obvious that it’s some lame phishing attempt, but that’s what makes it so odd… it’s obvious. Of course, I wouldn’t know what a real B of A e-mail looks like since I’m not even a member! It’s not even disguised to look like it really came from Bank of America. They don’t even try to hide the fact that the URL you’re trying to visit isn’t bankofamerica.com.
I’m not entirely sure what the “spam” button does in my inbox. Does it even report the spam to anyone who’s going to really deal with it or does it just look like it’s doing something when it moves the message to my spam/trash folder?
So for these B of A e-mails, I’ve been forwarding them with full headers to:

[email protected],
[email protected]
I get an auto-reply back from Bank of America, but the other two haven’t sent me a thing. After I forward the e-mails, I then click on the button to mark the mail as spam.
It’s starting to feel like my efforts are in vain since more of the e-mails keep on getting through the filters. Hopefully the sites linked to in these e-mails get shut down, but I wouldn’t ever know if they do or not since I never click on the links.
