The Prosperity Game – June 14, 2009

Posted on Sunday, June 14th, 2009Thursday, July 2nd, 2009 by Me

Wow, I’ve been posting every day for two weeks straight. That’s a record for me!

Today, the $14,000 will be spent on upgrading the tube TVs in the house. So, we’ll end up with four brand new flat screens and giving away our old TVs. Remember that I will be rounding up prices to the nearest 10 dollar amount, just to make things easier to add up.

I really like our 46″ Samsung LCD downstairs, so I would get more Samsungs for the other rooms.

3 x Samsung LN26B460 26-Inch 720p LCD HDTVs

Samsung LN26B460

= $1360 so far, with $12,640 left to spend.

1 x Samsung LN32B650 32-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color

Samsung 32 inch LCD TV

This one is for the master bedroom, that’s why it’s a little bigger than the rest since it’s a bigger room and you’d be sitting slightly further away from it.

Add another $1020, and that leaves $11,620 to spend.

To go with the TVs, I’d need four good surge protectors, four Moxi HD DVR boxes, and four wireless ethernet bridges (since the Moxis require an internet connection).

Belkin surge protector

4 x $23.39 = $100 (rounded up to nearest $10)

Moxi HD DVR

4 x $799 = $3200

Netgear Powerline Ethernet Bridge

I’ve never tried a powerline ethernet bridge before, but since the Moxis don’t really need a fast connection, I think these should serve my purposes well enough. If they don’t work, I’ll just buy something else.

4 x $46.36 = $190

That brings my total so far up to…

$1360
+1020
+100
+3200
+190
= $5870

I’ve barely left a dent in the $14,000 so far. Well, I guess it is a little more than 1/3rd of the way there, but still a long way to go.

With the $8130 left, I guess I’d take a little trip to Vegas with my mom and grandma – from June 28th through July 3rd since July 1st is my grandma’s birthday.

We’ve never stayed at the Venitian before, so that’s where I’d pick to stay.

$1830 for the airfare, hotel, and rental car leaves $2100 in gambling money per person. I’m not much of a gambler myself, so we’d probably use my money for eating out.

That’s all for day 14!
