2.2 seems to be a common version number when I blog. Okay, so I’ve only blogged about it one other time when I had the high throughput disconnect problems with WRT54G 2.2, but now here’s another 2.2 post.
I want to add an integrated gallery to my blog to make it easy for me to embed pictures into my posts or just to my blog without using any externally hosted services like Flickr. I know hosting with a free photo service will decrease my bandwidth usage, but I barely get traffic anyway, so I don’t really care at this point. And the last time I used an image hosting service, it went down once a month and I eventually couldn’t log in to my account anymore, so some of my previous posts that had images in them are now imageless. I don’t want that happening again, so I’ll be hosting all of the images on my webhost since HostPC rocks!
Anyway, the 2.2 that I’m waiting for is the WPG2 2.2 plugin. It embeds Gallery 2.0 into WordPress. The 2.2 version of WPG2 also has a built-in lightbox function, which is pretty cool, so I won’t have to look for an external lightbox plugin.
I’m not quite sure when it’ll be released, but I can wait. I don’t have Gallery installed yet anyway.
Also waiting for this WordPress plugin! I also feel this strange pleasure on having everything hosted on my PC. Right now I use wordpress, wpg2 (2.1) and gallery2 (2.1), but I have not been able to insert (in my WP posts) image thumbnails with a size greather than the gallery2 thumbnail size. I have googled a bit and havent found an easy solution (perhaps create different sizes in gallery2 first? advice is welcome). Anyway, there is a feature in WPG2 2.2 dubbed precisely “Middle-sized image …”, which is exactly what I am looking for 🙂
Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly are lightboxes?
BTW, Gallery2 2.2 (again!) looks great too!
